Transition To a Toddler Bed (When is the time)?

Tuesday, December 30, 2008

Once you have decided it is time to move your child to bed child how you go about doing it is very important. This is a big change for a child and can be very stressful. Here are some ideas and advice, which we hope will help you make it as painless as possible for your toddler.
Whenever possible allow your child to be involved in the decision to move into the new bed and help them take it. If you already have the bed and buying a new is not an option, then consider letting your child choose new sheets and blankets for her. This will bed in their minds and make the change more positive for them.
Once you have a toddler bed put in place the child in the room for several weeks before you move it. This will give them the opportunity to get used to it so that it seems not so new. If you need you can even begin to have the child into the toddler bed each night under the bed time routine and he resides in a short time. Perhaps when you read a story, then pass in their cradle to reality when sleep. Move everything possible to the nursery in the toddler bed to reduce the amount of change. You can try to make their naps during the day in bed, but sleep in their cot during the night. When you are really ready to use the toddler bed to full-time you must take to the nursery and move the toddler bed in the same location in the room to facilitate the transition.

Patience is on the agenda especially if your child is reluctant to abandon their birthplace. Some children take their new big boy or girl bed, without scruple, but for many it is a very grueling. Try to avoid doing so at the same time, there are other changes in the life of your toddler. If only they are pot starting formation, evolution daycare or adding a new family member.
No matter what you do for your child in May just not be ready for this change in this case, you just have to be patient and wait a few months and try again.
