Moving to "big boy/girl bed"

I just baby transition from a crib to a "big boy bed" and that is how I did it.
I did not muck around with him. I have just returned from the bed and him in there for his afternoon sleep, to see how he would react.
He voted to back him when I go to bed and told him if he returned he had to in his cot. He and I got him back in his cot and told him that he, in his crib because he is back and if he wants DTO sleeping in his "big boy bed", he would have to stay in it. We then have the same thing that night and he slept in his cot.
The next day I did the same for his afternoon sleep and got the same results, back in his cot. Then DH changes the cot and his bed so the bed had been the cot was, and we tried him on this night. And guess what? It works! He slept in his "big boy bed", without even until morning.
